WestJet adds 31 additional European cities to its network through enhanced Air France codeshare agreement

WestJet announced that beginning September 25, 2023, its guests will gain access to 31 additional cities across 11 European countries from Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) through an expansion of WestJet’s codeshare agreement with Air France.

As a result of a successful 10-year partnership, the two airlines have connected millions of travellers between Canada and Europe with the convenience of one-ticket and the ability to earn WestJet Dollars throughout their entire journey. Previously, WestJet and Air France’s code share agreement included 22 destinations through Charles De Gaulle Airport, all of which will be maintained as the number of onward destinations in Europe now grows to 53 which will be accessible as part of the WestJet network.

Due to exceptional demand for its seasonal service to the city of love, WestJet has extended service between Calgary and Paris to now operate year-round. The once seasonal route will continue to fly on WestJet’s 787 Dreamliner up to seven days per week during peak travel periods and function as the ideal connection hub for travellers to seamlessly connect onto Air France to these additional destinations.

AIR CANADA MAPLE LEAF LOUNGE UPDATES

Air Canada has opened its new Maple Leaf Lounge at San Francisco International Airport (SFO), the airline’s 28th lounge worldwide, and its third Maple Leaf Lounge in the U.S. The 165-seat lounge located in Terminal 2 spans 8,168 square feet.

The new Maple Leaf Lounge at SFO will pay homage to its California location both through its design and decor, and the F&B selections presented, which highlight local makers and flavors. Seafood offerings, including the San Francisco fish stew cioppino, will be on offer alongside a selection of California wines and beer from Sierra Nevada Brewing Company and Anchor Brewing—America’s first craft beer.

Additional details include F&B offerings; self-serve (hot and cold) buffet, showcasing local flavors; and a bar serving a selection of wines (including from Canada and California), in addition to local craft beers, cocktails and espresso.

The lounge, designed with San Francisco-based architectural firm Gensler, is the first of its kind with an outdoor terrace, and offers two vapor fireplaces. Additional facilities include:

  • E-Gates and biometric identification for seamless, hands-free lounge entry
  • Showers with heated towel racks
  • VIP room for up to 10 people
  • Collection of multidisciplinary art that pays homage to California and Canada

Air Canada has also re-introduced Newark Liberty International Airport to its roster of lounges with the opening of the new United Club location in Newark Terminal A.  In this new location, Air Canada will be co-located within the United Club, offering a dedicated customer service desk and an access policy consistent with Air Canada’s Maple Leaf Lounges.

Air Canada's Maple Leaf lounges, including San Francisco and the new United Club in Newark Terminal A, are available to Air Canada customers who are Aeroplan 50K, 75K and Aeroplan Super Elite Status members, Star Alliance Gold members, Aeroplan premium co-brand cardholders, and customers departing on a business class ticket with Air Canada or another Star Alliance member.
